Dayton teen killed in weekend crash on I-70 near Brookville

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Dayton Post is working to find out what caused a single-vehicle crash that took the life of a 19-year-old Dayton man Sunday morning on I-70, just east of Brookville.

Troopers were called to the crash shortly before 3 a.m.

The victim — Duncan Scott McCullough — died of his injuries after he was flown from the crash scene to Miami Valley Hospital, according to Patrol Sgt. Chris Colbert.

The investigation so far indicates McCullough was traveling east on I-70 when he went off the left side of the highway and entered the median. Colbert said the driver was ejected when the vehicle overturned and landed on its top in the westbound lanes.

CareFlight responded and transported McCullough to Miami Valley Hospital where he died of his injuries a few hours later.

The cause of the crash is not known and troopers are still working to find out where McCullough had been that night.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors, but investigators will know more after toxicology tests are returned in the autopsy report, which will take several weeks, according to Colbert.
