DAYTON — Bridges and underpasses across Dayton were lit in amber this evening during the national Memorial to Lives Lost to COVID-19.

Dayton was one of the many cities and towns that took part in the national memorial, which started at 5:30 p.m. EST.

“Our community and our country have been through an incredibly challenging few years,” Mayor Nan Whaley said in a statement. “This evening, we are pausing to reflect on the lives lost to COVID-19 and the adversity that we have already overcome as a community. Moving forward, we can take strength from that shared history as we renew our resolve to face new challenges and work toward living up to our ideals, together.”

In Washington D.C., the Lincoln Memorial Reflection Pool, along with other buildings, were lit and church bells rang in a national moment of unity and remembrance.
