Dayton man, subject of missing adult alert, safely located

UPDATE @ 3:20 a.m.

The Veterans Affairs Police Department said Robert Spangler was safely located.

FIRST REPORT

An Endangered Missing Adult Alert was issued today for a 71-year-old Dayton man.

Robert B. Spangler was last seen after he left his Iowa Avenue residence. He is described as a white man with brown hair and blue eyes who stands 5 feet 10 inches and weighs 205 pounds. He was reported missing by the Veterans Affairs Police Department to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

The alert states Spangler left his residence at noon Dec. 23, 2016, did not return and that law enforcement is concerned for his safety.

VA police tonight would not answer whether the alert should have stated Feb. 23, which is today’s date, instead. It is not clear whether Spangler has been missing since December, nor, if that is the case, why it took a few months for him to be reported missing.

Anyone with information on Spangler’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 or the hotline at 866-693-9171.
