Man indicted on 30+ child porn charges appears in court

UPDATE @ 11:14 a.m. (Dec. 14):

A Dayton man charged with more than 30 charges connected to child pornography pleaded not guilty in court Thursday.

David Fugett’s bond was set at $25,000 and he’s due back in court Dec. 26.

INITIAL REPORT (Nov. 30):

A Dayton man was indicted Thursday on more than 30 child pornography charges.

David Fugett, 33, of Dayton, is accused of sharing the child pornography from a computer authorities seized from his Grafton Avenue apartment, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

UPDATE @ 11:05 p.m.: Fugett, contacted at his apartment by News Center 7's Caroline Reinwald, declined to be interviewed and did not allow her inside.

“Ma’am, at the advice of my attorney I have nothing to say,” he told her.

EARLIER REPORT

According to an affidavit and statement filed in Dayton Municipal Court on Nov. 20, “Fugett disseminated videos … that depicted minors engaging in sexual conduct and/or contact.”

Fugett identified himself as a volunteer with the American Red Cross on his Linkedin profile, however the organization said he’s no longer in that position.

Fugett “is no longer a volunteer with the American Red Cross,” according to a statement Red Cross officials released Thursday afternoon. “Because of the pending criminal investigation, the policy of the Red Cross is to provide no further public comment,” the statement read.

According to the affidavit, police reported they were “able to download 22 videos from Fugett’s IP address, which led to a search warrant and seizure of digital devices.”

The seized devices were analyzed and found to have child pornography stored on them, according to the affidavit.

None of the child pornography was produced locally and was known to exist,  county prosecutor’s spokesman Greg Flannagan said.

Fugett is charged in the indictment on 21 counts of pandering of sexual oriented material involving a minor and 14 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

Fugett is to be arraigned Dec. 14.
