Darke County man meets CareFlight nurses who kept him alive

DARKE COUNTY — A Darke County man stopped breathing three times while on his way to the hospital and yesterday he got to meet the CareFlight nurses who kept him alive.

A month ago, Steve Keiser of North Star asked his wife to call 911 when he began to feel sick.

The Ansonia squad and the North Star Fire Department responded and kept Keiser, 67, breathing with an AED defibrillator.

Once he was in the air and on his way to Miami Valley, the CareFlight nurses assured him he would make -- and they were right.

Yesterday Keiser presented the CareFlight crew with a framed copy of the EMS Prayer, a similar presentation was made to the local first responders about a week ago.

“I stand ready Lord,” says the prayer. “All the time to help my fellow man.”
