At least 10 displaced by fire at Fairborn apartment building

At least 10 people have been displaced by a fire that erupted in an eight-unit apartment building that shut down traffic today in the 100 block of West Dayton Yellow Springs Road.

The fire started in a utility closet and damage from the flames was contained to one unit, but several other units sustained water and smoke damages, according to a Fairborn fire official.

The exact cause of the fire has not been determined.

The resident was alerted to the fire when a smoke detector went off, according to the official.

The Red Cross has been called to assist the displaced residents.

Crews from Riverside, Huber Heights and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base provided mutual aid at the scene.

Multiple fire crews have responded to a fire that erupted at an apartment building in the 100 block of West Dayton Yellow Springs Road.

A witness tells us smoke continued to billow out at different parts of the apartment building.

Multiple crews are on scene, including from Xenia and Beavercreek.

Crews in Fairborn are on scene of an apartment building where a fire reported erupted in one of the units.

The fire was reported around 3:15 p.m. in the 100 block of West Dayton Yellow Springs Road.

There were no initial reports of injuries.
