Husband, wife, infant rescued from Twin Creek sandbar in Warren Co.

UPDATE @ 4:35 p.m. (July 16)

A husband, wife and 10-month-old baby who were canoeing were rescued Saturday night in Franklin Twp., Warren County Sheriff’s Lt. Shaun Embleton said Sunday morning.

They beached their canoe on a Twin Creek sandbar after they missed their exit point on the creek in the area of Trenton Franklin Road, said Franklin Twp. Assistant Fire Chief John Daly.

When they noticed they were getting close to where the creek enters the Great Miami River, that’s when they beached the canoe, he said, and called for help around 9:30 p.m. on their cellphone.

The sheriff’s office pinged the phone to find them, Daly said.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources provided a boat, as did the city of Franklin, Daly said.
