Convicted Sidney murder suspect sentenced to prison

SIDNEY — A man convicted of killing Lance Johnson on North Miami Avenue in March was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison in Shelby County court today.

Troy McRae Jr. was found guilty of aggravated murder by a jury in September. The judge ruled 10 years in the sentence was for McRae being a repeat violent offender.

McRae, 36, stabbed Johnson 10 times in his home in the 400 block of North Miami on March 14.

McRae becomes eligible for parole after 40 years.
