Cloudy with a Chance of Podcast: One Year Later the Memorial Day Outbreak

It has been one year since 15 tornadoes ripped through the Miami Valley, destroying homes and changing lives forever. A lot has been done to rebuild but much is left to be done.

Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs and Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini sat down with Laura Mercer the Executive Director of the Miami Valley Long Term Recovery Operations Group about what progress has been made. This group is here to help any people directly impacted by the tornadoes access local resources through non-profit and faith-based organizations as well as volunteers.

An added challenge in rebuilding and repairing homes has been the pandemic. Mercer explains how it has challenged them and what they are doing to push forward.

If you are a homeowner who needs help remember to call 2-1-1 before August 1 so that this group can help you through the process of rebuilding or repairing your home! Mercer says they are here to help so please don’t be afraid to reach out. Do you have a memory from that night? Share it with us on social media.
