DAYTON — Vectren Corp. has reached a three-year agreement to continue sponsorship of the Dayton Air Show through 2021, organizers announced Tuesday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Vectren has been the title corporate sponsor of the spectator event at Dayton International Airport for 18 years, organizers said.
“We are grateful for the long-standing partnership we have had with Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio for the past 18 years, which has enabled us to continue to produce very high quality shows,” Scott A. Buchanan, air show chairman, said in a statement.
Colleen Ryan, president of the Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, said the air show was a premier event in the region.
“We believe the VDAS, like no other event in our region, best exemplifies our communities’ innovative history and aviation legacy and celebrates both military and civilian trailblazers and patriots,” she said in an email. “We are extremely proud to have our name associated with this premier air show, that brings tens of thousands together to celebrate our heritage, is an economic driver for the region, and shows off the Miami Valley to a national and international audience.”
The annual event, which began in 1975, has an economic impact of about $3 million a year and typically draws more than 70,000 visitors in a weekend.
