Centerville HS student ordered to be held in juvenile detention following threats

CENTERVILLE — UPDATE @ 3:24 p.m. (Jan. 24):

A 16-year-old Centerville High School student was ordered to continue being held in juvenile detention during his initial hearing in juvenile court after allegedly making threats on a school bus, court officials said.

The teen appeared before a judge this afternoon, who entered a plea of denial on the teen’s behalf.

The student is due back in court on Feb. 2 for his next hearing.

A 16-year-old Centerville High School student is charged with felony inducing panic and remained in the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center Wednesday after he was accused of making threatening comments, according to county officials.

According to court officials, the teen is due in court Wednesday afternoon for his initial hearing in the case.

School officials said the teen is accused of making threatening comments on one of the district’s school buses.

The specific details of the threats were not immediately released.

A 16-year-old high school student is accused of making threatening comments on one of the district’s school buses and law enforcement is now involved in the investigation, school officials said Tuesday.

The district said they were made aware of the threatening comments Monday night and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation, said Sarah Swan, spokesperson for Centerville City Schools.

The district did not release the specific details of what the threat entailed, but said the student made a variety of inappropriate comments.

“This situation shows how important it is for our students, families and community members to notify us if they are aware of any threats toward our students or school facilities,” Swan said.

We’re working to learn additional information from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
