An automotive supplier is considering where it will add 100 jobs and the city of Monroe is on the list.

UGN Inc., which opened a plant in Monroe about three years ago, said today it will announce by the end of March whether it will bring 100 more manufacturing employees and around $6 million in payroll to the southwest Ohio city or to Valparaiso, Ind.

“Both locations exemplify UGN culture and level of success we strive for,” stated Peter Anthony, CEO of UGN. “There are benefits to expansion in either Ohio or Indiana. We have enjoyed a lot of success in both regions. Either way, we hope to continue to contribute to the development of each respective community as we grow to meet the needs of our customers.”

UGN makes acoustic, interior trim, and thermal management products, and it is based near Chicago and has seven locations. It built its $50 million, 232,000-square-foot Monroe operation in 2015 and has hired about 280.

The proposed expansion would mean adding about a 150,000-square-foot expansion at the plant.
