Area gas prices drop

Gas prices are down in Southwest Ohio and the Miami Valley region.

Average retail gas prices in Dayton have fallen 14.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.23 per gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 391 gas outlets in Dayton.

This compares with the national average that has dropped 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.15 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.

The cheapest gas, as of this morning, is $2.11 at Maharaja Food Mart in Xenia.

In the Hamilton area, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.27 with prices stable. The cheapest gas is $2.17 at Five Points Market at Grand Boulevard near Tylersville Road.

In the Springfield, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.24, with prices stable. The cheapest gas is $2.19 at BP on North Limestone Street and East Home Road.

Including the change in gas prices in Dayton during the past week, prices on Sunday were 54.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago. These same prices are 1.8 cents lower than a month ago.

The national average for gas has increased 10.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 43.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
