Accused in double-stabbing at Troy motel pleads not guilty

TROY - A Troy man is to be court on March 6 for a pretrial hearing on charges accusing him of stabbing his former girlfriend and her boyfriend at a Troy motel earlier this month.

David Boyea, 33, remains in jail on a $500,000 bond after pleading not guilty Monday at his arraignment to charges of attempted murder and aggravated burglary in the Feb. 6 incident.

A 33-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man who were staying at the motel told police someone knocked on the door, forced his way in and stabbed them in the early morning hours. Both were taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight.

Police said all three worked at the Troy Burger King and that the woman had ended a relationship with Boyea.

Miami County Common Pleas Judge Jeannine Pratt set bond at $500,000 cash or surety, which was $50,000 less than the bail set at Boyea’s initial court appearance in county Municipal Court.
