Rain to impact busy travel day; snow likely for weekend

Skies will remain mostly cloudy with a few breaks here and there. Temperatures will be cool, slowly dropping through the 40s, said Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell.

TONIGHT: Lots of clouds will linger across the area with cooler air moving in. Temperatures will fall to near 30 degrees by morning.

WEDNESDAY: Clouds will break with more sunshine by afternoon. Temperatures will be cool, holding in the lower 40s.

THURSDAY: Expect a warming trend to get underway under mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the middle 40s.

FRIDAY: Clouds will thicken with showers developing. It will be unseasonably mild with highs soaring into the lower 50s.

SATURDAY: Showers will change to snow showers or flurries before ending in the morning. High temperatures in the middle 40s will likely occur before dawn with falling temperatures into the 30s by mid-morning and into the 20s by evening.

SUNDAY, CHRISTMAS EVE: Expect lots of clouds with a chance for flurries or snow showers developing by evening. It will be cold with a high in the lower 30s. It will be blustery.

MONDAY, CHRISTMAS DAY: Expect a chance for flurries or snow showers, mainly early. Highs will only reach into the upper 20s with bitter wind chills likely in the single digits due to gusty winds.
