Flags were at half staff Friday in Springboro in memory of Bruce Moore, a councilman and minister, who died Thursday at his home.

Moore, 64, was in his third term as the councilman representing the city’s Ward 3.

Moore was founder and retired pastor of Clearcreek Christian Assembly of God in Springboro.

“Please join us in prayer as we mourn the passing of Pastor Bruce Moore. Keep his wife, Carol, and their children in your prayers,” the church posted on social media sites.

Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 N. Main St. in Springboro. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Solid Rock Church, 903 Union Road in Turtlecreek Twp.

Moore was born in Hamilton and served as a youth pastor at the Vandalia Christian Life Center, according to his obituary.

Mayor John Agenbroad said the city council would begin the process of replacing Moore after his funeral. They have 30 days to appoint a replacement, after which the mayor fills the vacancy.

Moore had been serving as pastor at Bethel Assembly of God Church. He also sold cars at Lebanon Ford.

No autopsy was performed because Moore had heart problems and had not been feeling well, according to Doyle Burke, chief investigator for the Warren County Coroner’s Office.
