Miami Twp. OKs modified preliminary plans for auto dealership

Miami Twp. has approved proposals for an automobile dealership and a hotel.

White Allen is seeking to build a Volkswagen dealership on 3.3 acres next to its White Allen European Auto Group on Springboro Pike north of the Dayton Mall while developers want to locate a Home2 Suites by Hilton at The Exchange at Spring Valley north of Austin Landing.

Township trustees approved major modifications to the preliminary plans Tuesday night.

White Allen’s plan, expected to cost at least $3 million, is a revised proposal calling for a 20,200 square foot building. It replaces a plan for a 9,000-square-foot pre-owned vehicle dealership both the township zoning board and trustees had earlier rejected.

Trustee final approval would add to an automobile sales corridor near the Dayton Mall that includes four Matt Castrucci lots on Mall Park Drive, Walker Toyota on Ohio 741 just south of the mall and Interstate Ford on Ohio 725 west of I-75.

White Allen, which began in the 1930s, also operates Chevrolet and Honda dealerships in Dayton.

An extended stay hotel proposal is part of a request by developers to expand the permitted land uses for The Exchange at Spring Valley.

If trustees approve the change, it would allow 741 Developers Ltd. to return in a few months with more specific plans for the Home2 Suites. The proposal would include a 106-room, four-story hotel on 1.8 acres in the development off Ohio 741 across from MetLife and LexisNexis, according to township records.

The Hilton brand hotel has recently entered the Southwest Ohio market with a $9 million, 66,000 square foot site in Liberty Twp., its first Ohio site among more than 300 locations, officials said.
