— The meal-delivery service Grubhub is gearing up to launch its meal-delivery service in several Dayton-area communities.
Although some local restaurants already appear on Grubhub’s web site, those eateries offer their own delivery. What’s new about this Grubhub expansion is that Grubhub will be using its own drivers’ network, according to Jillian D’Amico, Grubhub’s territory manager and restaurant sales executive for the Dayton area. Grubhub has been soliciting local restaurants to join with Grubhub for delivery, and is scheduled to launch their service on March 12, D’Amico said.
“Our driving network has been established and is ready to rock and roll, so we’re now able to offer our Grubhub delivery services to any restaurant in Dayton that offers takeout,” D’Amico said. “Each driver is thoroughly screened, put through an interview process, and equipped with proper Grubhub hot/cold insulated to-go bags.”

The Dayton expansion will include the Centerville, Miamisburg, West Carrollton, Kettering, Beavercreek, Fairborn, Huber Heights, and Englewood areas, D’Amico said.
Dayton-area diners have multiple options when it comes to meal delivery. Among them are DoorDash and UberEats, both of which launched in some Miami Valley communities last fall. But Dayton is still prime territory for Grubhub expansion, D’Amico said.

“We chose Dayton because we felt it was a city with enourmous opportunity,” she said. “Cities that do best on Grubhub are those that include a busy downtown district, booming college towns, and a thriving or up-and-coming restaurant scene. I can personally attest to Dayton having all three of these, as my cousin used to be the assistant men’s basketball coach for Wright State University, so I’ve seen the town in action.”
Grubhub has gotten a positive response from local restaurants, D’Amico said, and is “far exceeding our goal” for sign-ups. “There is no cost to get started with Grubhub, no monthly fees, no equipment fees, and no commitment. We function on a strictly commission-based model,” she said.
Grubhub currently partners with about 80,000 restaurants nationwide.
