Valentine had felony warrants and was reportedly found to be in possession of a stolen firearm and fentanyl, according to Dayton police. Smedley was arrested on a federal warrant for multiple drug and weapons charges.

Those arrests were part of a joint operation of West Patrol Operations Division units, Dayton police detectives, CIRGV, and the Safe Streets Task Force.

On June 29, Paris Foster was arrested on various drug charges and a weapons charges. Foster was found to be in possession of a significant amount of heroin, fentanyl and oxycodone, along with several weapons and cash.

Dayton police say Foster is also suspected of manufacturing drugs.

Foster’s arrest was part of a joint effort by the Heroin Eradication Apprehension Team, CIRGV, Drug Enforcement, and the Street Crimes Unit of the East Patrol Operations Division.

Dayton police plan to seek federal charges against these three subjects.

"Two of the biggest risks to our citizens today are the presence of armed violent offenders and deadly fentanyl on our streets," said Major Brian Johns, commander of the Investigations and Administrative Services Bureau. "The Dayton Police Department will continue to work vigorously to reduce both, so as to protect the safety of our citizens and neighborhoods. We will also, to the best of our ability, seek maximum sentences for those who sell deadly drugs and victimize others through violence."
