UPDATE: ODNR identifies victim killed in jet ski accident at Grand Lake St. Marys

MERCER COUNTY — UPDATE @ 2 p.m. (July 8):

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources identified the victims in a deadly jet ski accident early Monday morning on Grand Lake St. Marys in Mercer County.

Trevor Mobley, 26, of Coldwater was identified as the man killed in the crash, according to an ODNR spokesperson. The passenger, identified as Corey Kuether, 29, of Montezuma, survived the accident and suffered minor injuries, officials said.

Additional details about the investigation were not released.

FIRST REPORT (July 6):

One person is dead and another injured following a jet ski accident that occurred on Grand Lake St. Marys early this morning.

A man fishing on the lake called 9-1-1 around 12:40 a.m. with concerns for a man he said he heard screaming.

Crews arrived on scene of the accident and found the driver of the jet ski dead. His passenger survived with minor injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

The Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Montezuma and Celina fire departments assisted on scene.

ODNR reminds those on the water to operate their equipment responsibly, wear a life jacket and pay close attention to local conditions and posted advisories.
