Fire causes $45,000 in damages to Middletown apartment

UPDATE, Aug. 31:

A fire Tuesday morning caused $45,000 in damages to a two-story Middletown apartment, according to the fire report.

The apartment, 1721 Germantown Road, received $30,000 in damages to the property and $15,000 to contents, the report said. There was “extensive damage” on the second floor and smoke damage throughout the building, according to the report.

The American Red Cross assisted the two residents who were displaced. There were no injuries.

A cause of the fire has not been determined, according to fire investigator Brian Wright.

The fire was reported about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday and was called in by customers dining at Frisch’s across the street.

Middletown received mutual aid from Monroe and Franklin fire departments.

INITIAL REPORT, Aug. 30:

Middletown firefighters are battling a fire this morning in a two-story home in the 1700 block of Germantown Road, said Fire Chief Paul Lolli.

He said the home suffered heavy damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined, he said.

No injuries have been reported, according to Lolli.

The fire was called into the fire department by diners across the street at Frisch’s Restaurant, he said.
