Family Dollar employees face theft charges after $3K taken from customer’s wallet

DAYTON — Two Family Dollar employees were booked in the Montgomery County jail on Sunday after several thousand dollars is cash was taken from a customer’s wallet, according to a city police report.

Tamisha Johnson, 23, and Michelle Long, are being held on felony theft charges. They are scheduled to appear in court this afternoon, according to online court records.

Dayton police were dispatched to Family Dollar located in the 1100 block of North Main Street for a “suspicious complaint.”

The customer reported she left her wallet with up to $4,000 in the store inside a shopping cart.

According to police, video surveillance showed Johnson and Long removing an unknown amount of cash from a wallet.

While being questioned by an officer, Johnson said she and Long took money from the wallet and hid it in the back of the store, according to the police report.

Johnson removed $2,300 in $100 dollar bills that was concealed in her shoe.

Long denied taking funds from the wallet, according to police.
