Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies – including the DEA — were on the scene moments after a Miamisburg robbery that resulted in an off-duty Miami Twp. police officer shooting a 17-year-old suspect, records show.

And the wounded suspect in the armed robbery of a Shell station near Ohio 725 and Interstate 75 claimed to be an undercover police officer, leading to confusion, according to a 9-1-1 caller who said she was a Drug Enforcement Administration agent.

Because of the suspect from Dayton’s claim, the DEA agent also described a possible police-on-police shooting, referred to as blue on blue. She also noted two Jackson Twp. police vehicles on the scene, which slowed mid-afternoon traffic.

The 9-1-1 call released from the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center includes the following exchange:

Dispatcher: What’s going on there?

Caller: There was just a shooting. It looks like possibly a blue on blue?

Dispatcher: What do you mean a blue on blue?

Caller: Police officer on police officer. Male is claiming to be an undercover…

Dispatcher: Was the police officer shot?

Caller: We’re getting identification right now. We’re with three plainclothes police officers right now in the middle of the intersection. The male that was just shot is alleging he is an undercover. We’re looking for identification right now.

The 17-year-old appeared in court Tuesday and will be held for now, a judge ruled. Officers have said they are working with prosecutors on additional charges, and prosecutors said they would seek to try him as an adult.
