TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 12:30 p.m.
Trotwood police Sgt. Brent Rasor said police and medics were dispatched on a report of a shooting around 7:30 p.m. to the area of Annapolis and Jason avenues.
"We do have an adult female that's been struck (by a bullet) one time by an unknown male and the case is ongoing," Rasor said.
He said it appears the shooting happened outside, and that the woman was conscious and breathing.
When the woman showed up at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, staff members there alerted police. She was transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.
Her name, age and condition were not released.
"She was conscious and breathing at the time we spoke to her," Rasor said.
According to an incident report, the woman was shot just after 5:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Annapolils Avenue.
A second woman called around 5:50 p.m. to say she was in the 1600 block of Cornell Drive, and that her silver GMC Denali had bullet holes. This incident was believed linked to the Trotwood shooting, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center. That woman said she was not hurt.
Ronald Young, who lives on Annapolis Avenue, said he heard about three or four gunshots.
Although he said he frequently hears gunfire, he said speeding is the biggest problem on his street.
"They need speed bumps, a stop sign and a street light," he said.
A woman with a gunshot wound arrived this evening at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
She told police she was shot in the area of Annapolis and Salem avenues in Trotwood, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
According to initial reports, another woman reported her vehicle had several bullet holes but that she was not hurt.
We are on the way to the scene and will update this report.
