Suspect nabbed in Fifth Third Bank heist

UPDATE

A bank robber suspect was nabbed inside his apartment this evening, not far from the bank he is accused of robbing.

Michael J. Stathas, 31, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. after Kettering police found him in an apartment in the 3600 block of Far Hills Avenue. He was booked without bond into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of one count of felony robbery, online jail records show.

Police in Kettering are looking for a man who robbed Fifth Third Bank, 4120 Far Hills Ave., Saturday morning.

Police tell us a white male wearing a gray pullover jacket, black pants and a gray knit cap entered the bank and approached a teller.

The robber pushed away the teller from the cash drawer and took an undetermined amount of cash, according to police.

He did not display a weapon.

The robber, described as being in his 20s to early 30s, having a thin build and above average height, was last seen running south along Far Hills Avenue.
