— A former Springfield Twp. firefighter instructor accused of sexually abusing multiple teen boys over several years has been indicted.
Jonathan Scott Monroe of Springfield has been indicted on charges of rape, gross sexual imposition, three counts of sexual battery, three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and compelling prostitution.
He showed up to the Springfield Police Division in April and allegedly confessed to assaulting multiple teenage boys he met through the cadet program at the fire department, according to court records.
The charges involve four victims — who now are 15 years to 17 years old — under whom he had authority as their training instructor.
Monroe resigned from his position at the fire department by sending an email to the fire chief on April 6, Springfield Twp. Trustee Tim Foley said.
