Coroner releases ID of man found in Wolf Creek

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 2:35 p.m.

The Montgomery County Coroner Office has released the identity of the man who was found deceased this morning in Wolf Creek near the bridge at North Broadway Street and Negley Place in Dayton.

The body of 35-year-old Nigel Turner, of Dayton, was recovered from the creek, according to the coroner’s office.

Cause and manner of death have not been released. Police said earlier the death does not appear to be a homicide.

UPDATE @ 11:44 a.m.

A man who lives in the neighborhood near North Broadway Street and Negley Place on Dayton’s west side was found deceased this morning in Wolf Creek, but police do not believe the death is the result of a homicide.

Police said family members reported the man was last seen Thursday.

While it doesn’t appear to be a homicide, investigators are working to determine why the body ended up in the water at Wolf Creek.

UPDATE @ 10:45 a.m.

Police have cordoned off the death investigation scene around the bridge at North Broadway Street and Negley Place.

Homicide detectives are on nearby porches talking with residents.

Authorities are under the bridge there where initial reports indicated a body was found in Wolf Creek.

The right lane is blocked on North Broadway and Negley Place, a one-way street, is blocked to traffic.

EARLIER

Police in Dayton are investigating a death in the area of North Broadway Street and Negley Place.

The initial report was for a possible water rescue in the creek near Broadway and Negley Place before 10 a.m.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene.
