UPDATE @ 4:05 p.m. (Sept. 30): Charges of rape of a child under the age of 10 have been approved against Alonzo B. Craft stemming from an unrelated incident that happened previously to the sexual assault reported this week at the Claypool Apartments in Dayton, where Craft works or worked as a maintenance man.

FULL REPORT @ 8:15 p.m. (Sept. 29): Alonzo Craft, accused of rape and other felonies at the Claypool Apartments in Dayton, where he works, is to be in court Friday afternoon for an initial appearance on those charges.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office has to formally file the charges — multiple counts of kidnapping, rape, rape of a child younger than 10, and burglary — before noon Friday or Craft will be released from the county jail.

He has been detained there since just after midnight Wednesday.

Dayton Sgt. Monica Evans said a detective with the department’s special victims unit has the case.

According to a Dayton police incident report, a person identified as a victim called police Tuesday evening to report a sexual assault at the address. Detectives spent hours at the complex, in the 1600 block of Woodman Drive, and took Craft into custody about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
