An officer briefly trapped in his patrol car after it was hit Thursday night was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

It was the passenger and not the driver who jumped out of the car and fled after the crash about 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and Riverside Drive.

The driver, who was not identified, stayed on scene and will face traffic charges, according to police.

Terrell Daniel, 21, was arrested after a brief foot chase because he matched the description of a suspect, according to officers. He is scheduled to appear in court next Friday, online jail records show.
