Knife-wielding suspect robs Family Video in Kettering

Police will be reviewing surveillance video from local businesses to help identify the man who robbed Family Video tonight in Kettering.

The suspect was armed with a knife when he entered the store at 930 E. Dorothy Lane. He ordered the employee to the floor and took cash from the register before fleeing in the robbery reported at 4:09 p.m., said Kettering police Sgt. Mike Walker.

The clerk was not hurt, he said, and there were no customers inside the store during the incident.

A K-9 was called to track the suspect – described as a man between 25 and 35 – who may have gotten into a vehicle parked nearby, the sergeant said.

A man armed with a knife held up Family Video in Kettering.

The robbery was reported sometime after 4 p.m. at the video store, 930 E. Dorothy Lane. Police surrounded the store in yellow crime scene tape as they investigated.

Kettering police said the robber pulled a knife and ordered the clerk to lay on the floor while he grabbed money from the register. The suspect ran to the back of the building, where he possibly fled in a car, police said.
