Authorities say Shannon Springhorn of Melbourne was attending the show at the concert venue just east of the village when she caused a disturbance. She faces charges that include battery on a law-enforcement officer, simple battery, resisting with violence and trespassing after receiving a warning.

Springhorn remained at the Palm Beach County Jail early Thursday after Judge Dina Keever-Agrama set her bail at $13,000 during a hearing at the jail Wednesday.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy and security staff responded shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday after Springhorn allegedly assaulted an employee at the concert venue, which is within the grounds of the South Florida Fair, according to an arrest report made public Wednesday.

As she was taken into custody, Springhorn tried to kick a sheriff’s deputy and fell, according to a sheriff’s arrest report. She also hit a deputy in the groin with her knee, the Sheriff’s Office said

The arrest report indicates that Springhorn appeared intoxicated and on some type of drug. According to the report, she became unconscious as a deputy forced her to the ground. She was treated by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue workers and taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Deputies learned that Springhorn had been issued a trespass warning at the concert venue earlier in the evening, the report said.

Man Accused Of Killing Father, Leaving Corpse On Couch For Weeks

Tyler Swantek, 24, was already in custody on drug charges when police tacked on a first-degree murder charge.

Police said he killed his father, Todd Swantek, and left the corpse on the couch for weeks. The Standard-Speaker reported that Swantek allegedly shot his father in the head with a rifle.

Police reportedly were called to the scene in Frackville, Pennsylvania, in late May by a friend of Todd Swantek’s, who had not heard from the father for a month. When police entered the house, they found a gruesome scene: The badly decomposed body was on the couch, covered in blankets and a sleeping bag, the Standard-Speaker reported. Police said they searched the house and found the rifle, which they believe to be the murder weapon, in Tyler Swantek’s bedroom.

There were a number of candles and air fresheners in the house, apparently put out in an attempt to mask the smell, the Standard-Speaker reported. Police said that when they interviewed Tyler Swantek about his father’s death, he showed no emotion. An autopsy report suggested that the body may have been on the couch for months before it was discovered. Swantek appeared in court where he asked for reduced bail for drug charges, but the judge didn’t agree to the deal. The judge reportedly said, “He’s a danger to himself and society.”

Police: Man Tried To Snatch Toddler From Grocery Cart

A mother in Texas called the moment a man tried to snatch her toddler out of a grocery store cart terrifying.

WFAA reported that the attempted abduction took place Wednesday outside a Kroger in Grand Prairie.

Victoria Edwards told WFAA that after she had loaded her groceries and was about to place her children in the car she heard her son say that a man was trying to grab the shopping cart with Madison, her 2-year-old daughter, strapped inside.

Edwards sprang into action, confronting the man and screaming at him. She told WFAA that the man said he was "trying to say hello" to the child and continued to push the cart away from her. As Edwards continued to scream and draw attention, the man ran off and slipped inside the passenger side of a black pickup truck.

Police said that witnesses described the man as "heavy set, 50 to 60 years old with a salt-and-pepper mustache and a distinctive mole under his left eye."

Edwards hopes the frightening incident serves as a sobering reminder to parents to always be alert, even when the surroundings appear to be safe.

Inmate At Georgia Jail, Nurse Passed Letters, Had Sexual Relationship, Officials Say

A former Fulton County jail nurse is accused of having a sexual relationship with an inmate and sending him letters detailing “her enjoyment of sex with him,” according to a Fulton County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Aleah Risby, 23, was released from the Fulton County jail on a $7,500 signature bond late Thursday, Fulton County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said. She faces a charge of sexual assault by a law enforcement agency employee or agent who engages in sexual contact with an individual in custody.

Risby had been with Correct Care Solutions, the medical provider for the jail, for two months when authorities were told about the alleged relationship with inmate Jerrell Hopkins, officials said. Hopkins, 22, had been in jail on a slew of charges including aggravated assault, obstruction battery, possession of a firearm and false imprisonment, according to records.

Lt. Deputy Sheriff Anthony Volley wrote in his report that he was given the letters Monday and interviewed Hopkins the next day. Hopkins confessed that he and Risby would have sexual intercourse in the far corner of the new intake area, according to the report

Hopkins also gave Volley a note from Risby indicating she wanted “to find a place where (they) can touch,” according to the report. Some of the letters revealed the two would also hug and kiss. It is not stated when the relationship began or if the two knew each other before Risby began her job at the jail.

Authorities monitored conversations between Risby and Hopkins and arrested the former nurse, the report states. Risby opted not to make a statement to officials on the allegations.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 3.
