Investigation ongoing in Huber Heights suspicious death

Authorities cannot yet say what led to the death of a man found last week in Huber Heights but remain hopeful the public will offer information to detectives.

Huber Heights Police Chief Mark Lightner said Tuesday the department is not ready to share new information on the death of Brian Wallace Moore, a convicted sex offender, but said the investigation is ongoing.

“It’s been an extensive investigative process with positive results,” Lightner said. “We’re learning a lot more.”

The 35-year-old Moore was found dead Sept. 13 on Wildcat Road north of Kellenburger Road by a pedestrian on a lunchtime walk. The pedestrian said he smelled the odor of decomposition during a walk on the same route the day prior.

Last week, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said a toxicology report would take six to eight weeks to complete, meaning the official cause of death is still “pending.”

Court records show Moore lived at various locations across the state and routinely failed to register changes of address as required of sex offenders.

Lightner said detectives welcome any information the public is able to provide in the suspicious death case by dialing Huber Heights dispatch at 937-233-2080.
