Fatality in Dayton shooting is 28-year-old Dayton man

No arrests have been made in the city of Dayton’s most recent homicide.

  • Fatal shooting Aug. 23 in 800 block of Catalpa Drive
  • Police found several shell casings at the scene
  • Victim ID’d as 28-year-old Jamar Devon Jackson
  • UPDATE @ 6:10 p.m. Aug. 23: Jamar Jackson, 28, of Dayton, is the victim in the Catalpa Drive shooting and an autopsy is to be performed Wednesday, a Montgomery County Coroner's investigator said.

    UPDATE @ 12:52 p.m. The shooting victim on Catalpa Drive has died, according to police.

    UPDATE @ 12:18 p.m. Half of the 800 block of Catalpa is blocked off.

    There also are shell casings and evidence markers on the ground. Detectives are on the scene.

    INITIAL REPORT

    Police in Dayton are responding to a reported shooting in the 800 block of Catalpa Drive.

    Officers were dispatched to a shots fired call around 11:45 a.m.

    Early reports indicate there is one gunshot victim and two possible suspects who fled the area.
