Dayton man vandalizes police car

A Dayton man, Nicholas A. Edwards, is in Montgomery County Jail after allegedly writing an expletive on a police cruiser.

He’s facing charges of felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanors of criminal damaging and using weapons while intoxicated.

About 3 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of East Fifth Street, the 26-year-old reportedly wrote “F— the police” on the side of an officer’s cruiser, according to a police report.

At the time, about 50 people were yelling, shouting and banging on drums in front of a local restaurant when police arrived. An officer attempted to get the crowd’s attention by using his horn and turning on his siren, but he was ultimately ignored, the report read.

After the crowd riled and began to chant, “F— the police,” Edwards wrote the remark on the officer’s cruiser before he was arrested and booked into jail.
