Can you ID this alleged supermarket robber?

Dayton police have released surveillance photos from a robbery at Sammy’s Supermarket, 3705 Wayne Ave., that occurred Thanksgiving day.

The suspect is described as a white male, around age 30, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with short brown hair and a goatee.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 937-222-STOP.

A Dayton police report indicates a robbery suspect had entered the store several times prior to the robbery.

Sammy’s Supermarket was robbed about 4 p.m. Thursday.

When the suspect entered the store he first went to a cooler and removed a Bud Ice bottle, police said. When the man went to pay he demanded money from the clerk.

After he was given about $200 cash, the suspect went around the register and stole five packs of cigarettes, police said.

EARLIER REPORT (Nov. 26)

Police are looking for the man who may have been armed when he robbed Sammy’s Supermarket on Thanksgiving Day.

According to Dayton police, the robber had one his hands in the pocket of a hooded sweatshirt when he entered the business, in the 3700 block of Wayne Avenue, just after 4 p.m.

Employees told police they didn’t see a gun, but he acted as though he may have had one, we’re told. The robber left on foot, toward Coventry Road.

Police got a late start with their investigation because employees called the store’s owner, who reviewed the incident on videotape recorded via surveillance cameras and then called police just after 5 p.m.

Police said the robber sports a goatee and was wearing black denim jeans and a black shirt as well as the sweatshirt.
