Another charge for brother in Carroll HS student’s shooting death

DAYTON — A 19-year-old awaiting trial in the death of his sister who in July was struck by a stray bullet now faces another charge.

Jason Tidwell of Dayton was to be arraigned today for aggravated possession of drugs. According to his Thursday indictment, the charge was for methamphetamine possession.

Tidwell is accused in the July 5 death of his half-sister Mackenna Kronenberger, a 14-year-old girl who had just finished her freshman year at Carroll High School. Kronenberger was killed when a bullet fired in front of her Morse Avenue house struck her while she was inside. Prosecutors said the shooting happened during an argument between Tidwell and Dylan Angel, 18.

A grand jury declined to indict Angel, but approved multiple charges against Tidwell, including murder, tampering with evidence, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises; and having weapons under disability for a prior offense of violence. He is being held on $1 million bond in the Montgomery County Jail.

His trial is set to begin Dec. 11.
