Aide indicted, accused of stealing drugs from Clark County school

A Reid Middle School clinical aide accused of stealing drugs from students has been indicted on a felony charge.

Amy Baumgardner, 48, of 3916 Petre Road, is charged with theft of drugs. The charge stems from allegations she stole several Adderall pills that were stored at the school for students who were prescribed the drug, according to court records.

Clark-Shawnee Local School District terminated Baumgardner last week from her job as a clinical aide after being accused of stealing prescription drugs from students.

Baumgardner was arrested on Sept. 15 following an investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. A parent complained about missing medication, according to a police report.

Clark County Deputy Mark Lane wrote in an affidavit that Baumgardner failed to keep thorough records of medications that entered the school building and admitted to him and another deputy of taking the pills “to get through the day.”

“Amy was advised of her Miranda Rights on video and admitted to taking several pills of Adderall from unknown students at Reid School, while she worked there,” Lane wrote. “Amy stated that she is prescribed these medication herself but needed some to get her through the day.”
