1 driver fled, other taken by CareFlight from Springfield crash

SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 1 p.m.

Police in Springfield said one driver fled from a crash this morning that sent the other driver to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight.

Two sport utility vehicles collided near the intersection at Pine and Kenton streets. Witnesses reported a vehicle pulling out onto the roadway was struck by another.

Police said the driver who was taken by CareFlight suffered a head injury. The man was first taken by squad to the Springfield Regional Medical Center.

Police said officers searched the area for the other driver who ran away but he was not located.

Police and medics in Springfield have responded to a two-vehicle crash with possible serious injuries at the intersection of Pine and Kenton streets.

One person reportedly ran from the crash, which happened around 11 a.m.

CareFlight has been put on standby as firefighters work to extricate one person from one of the vehicles.
