OHIO — Insurance company Anthem says it will no longer cover emergency room visits that end in non-emergency treatment.
The insurance company released a statement to News Center 7 today saying the company has seen an increase in trips to the ER for things like itchy eyes and seasonal allergies — despite campaigns to inform the public about costs and inconveniences for going to the emergency room for those conditions.
Anthem already has these policies in place in Kentucky, Missouri and Georgia.
The new policy will begin in January.
