Part of the roof of a clothing store in Xenia collapses as a result of heavy rain that hit area

XENIA — Part of the roof at the Fast Fashions clothing store, 33 E. Main St., collapsed from heavy rain that hit the area Tuesday afternoon.

The collapse appears to have been caused by a common drain, which runs from some of the neighboring retail stores in the building, that became clogged or overrun with water, Xenia Fire Chief Kenneth Riggsby said.

There were people in the clothing store, but no one was injured. The roof collapsed in an area of the store where alterations are performed, the chief said.

He said the collapse was reported about 3:45 p.m., when some of the heaviest rain hit Xenia.
