Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker caught five passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in a 51-48 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Welker was targeted six times in the game and his longest reception counted for 16 yards.
Fantasy impact: It isn't often that five catches and a touchdown would be a disappointment to fantasy owners of Welker, but in this case you might say it is. The Broncos offense is so stacked that there simple are not enough passes to go around.
There's no doubt that Welker is the best slot receiver in the game and has one of the best quarterbacks of all time getting him the ball. The thing about the game against the Cowboys was that Julius Thomas, Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas and Knowshon Moreno all needed to get their share of the action as well.
Overall, there aren't too many receivers in the game of football that can be considered automatic for a touchdown every single week and Welker is one of those players. In Week 6, the Broncos face a Jacksonville Jaguars squad that is considered the worst team in football right now and a good bet to go when winless the entire season. Fantasy owners are advised to keep Welker in the lineup, not that there was ever any question whether or not he should be.
