The USC Trojans were manhandled Sunday evening, and in a quick turn of events, the Athletic Director announced that head coach Lane Kiffin has been fired. Kiffin's career at USC got off to a strong start, but things went south in a hurry last year and USC apparently was itchy to make a change.
The team will have an interim coach for now, but given the high profile nature of the USC job, there will be a ton of speculation about who will get it. Given his past interviewing work, it is no surprise that Greg Roman's name has already been thrown around on a purely speculative basis. Albert Breer tweeted about how USC head coaches the last two decades came with NFL pedigree. That led to discussion of NFL coaches, and then this pair of tweets from Bryan Broaddus, a former personnel man in the NFL.
Again, this would appear to just be purely speculation on his part, but given that Roman has interviewed for numerous NFL and college head coaching jobs, it really wouldn't surprise me to hear his name in connection with the USC job at some point in the near future.
For now, while we wait, we can only hope USC goes the direction of Al Davis in discussing Kiffin's departure!
