It's only been four days, but I think safety Darius Kelly has the look to contribute this season. He moves very smoothly during individual drills, and I saw him field punts during Thursday's practice.
Ryan Nassib has made a good impression so far with the Giants and looks to continue it Saturday during his first preseason game.
Michelle Tumolo, one of the greatest players in Syracuse women’s lacrosse history and a 2012 Tewaaraton Trophy finalist, is heading to Florida, where she will serve as an assistant coach for the Gators.
"I'm still working out every day," Goggins said. "Maybe something will happen in a camp, maybe the end of the season or in the offseason, but I'll be on the field again."
The SU men’s soccer team, coming off a 14-6-1 campaign and NCAA tournament Sweet 16 loss to Georgetown, will play North Carolina on Oct. 18. That match will be broadcasted on ESPN3 and regional sports networks. The SU women’s soccer team’s game at North Carolina State on Oct. 20 will also be featured on regional sports networks and ESPN3.
Syracuse has a pretty tough nonconference schedule again, with games against Penn State and Northwestern to open the season. Playing in the Atlantic Division is not going to be easy, either, as it takes a step up in level of competition playing in the ACC. There are too many question marks now to believe Syracuse has a realistic change of finishing in the top half of its division. But the Orange should be in position to make it back to another bowl game.
