You can call him Zeek. Everyone else does.
Name: Isaiah Johnson
Position: Defensive tackle
Hometown: New Castle, DE
High School: Eastern Christian Academy
2012 Stats: N/A
2013 Projections: He put on about 20 lbs since he was originally signed, so he's making some serious effort. Given how the D-line is shaping up, though, it looks like he'll have the year to keep up the good work before seeing the field.
How'd He Get Here?: By turning down offers from BooConn, Marist, Temple, and Hawaii, among others.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Two stars from both of 'em.
On visiting Syracuse:
Man, it was great. I loved the campus and the atmosphere. I just felt at home.

What Does Shafer Think:
Shafer first noticed that Johnson's got a tremendous upside at a camp at Maritime:
...I turned back and all the sudden I see somebody just go right by somebody, and I was like, who's he...
Interesting Nugget O'Interest:
Apparently, Zeek has been focused on the defensive side of sports his whole life, but only started playing football two years ago. Wanna guess what he played before? Basketball.
Johnson grew up a huge Syracuse fan because of his love for the basketball team. He admired Jim Boeheim and his 2-3 zone. He always wanted to play in it, as he was always a defensive minded forward on the hardwood.
We're about due for another basketball walk-on from the football team, aren't we?
