San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore says his left knee injury will not keep him out of the teams Week 4 game against the St. Louis Rams, according to a report by the San Jose Mercury News' Cam Inman. Though he was limited to just 11 carries in a Week 3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, he finished the game with 82 yards, representing an average of 7.5 yards per carry.
Fantasy impact: Perhaps the bigger issue here is that Gore has only 20 carries over the last two weeks combined, and his performance in Week 3 caused him to reportedly have a few choice words for coach Jim Harbaugh. Fantasy owners should stay aware that Gore has been a workhorse running back in the league for a long time and it seems that Kendall Hunter is always a threat to take some carries, although considering Gore's stats over the last two years, it probably hasn't happened as fast as people expected.
You can bet that Gore will be getting the ball more in Week 4, as the Rams got scorched by the Dallas Cowboys' DeMarco Murray for 175 yards and a touchdown in Week 3. That said, be sure to monitor Gore's workload over the next number of weeks, if only just to make sure he's seeing the ball consistently.
