Cowboys Roster Cuts: Jay Ratliff To PUP, Ryan Cook To IR & The Rest Of Today's Cuts - Blogging The Boys
In case you neglected your Cowboys reading yesterday, this is a summary of the Dallas Cowboys roster cuts.
Eight prophecies for 2013 - NFL.com
They're employing prophets at NFL.com now, and they're predicting the Cowboys will win the NFC East.
"The Cowboys have been close during the Romo era -- two seasons ago, they were a Miles Austin lost ball in the lights from taking out the eventual Super Bowl champion Giants and cruising into the playoffs -- and I don't think they're that far from putting it all together. Also, Romo is a better quarterback, and less of a liability in the clutch, than the common perception dictates."

Stephen Jones: ‘We’ve got the secret sauce’ to win Super Bowls - Rainer Sabin, DMN
Optimism seems to be running high at Valley Ranch after what feels like a good preseason.
"We’re convinced we’ve got the secret sauce to put this thing back together again and win championships," Stephen Jones said. "We can always be better. We look for ways to be better. We do that both on the field and off the field."
"Our commitment when we started was no more 8-8s. I think we’ve got good personnel. I think we’ve got a great staff. I think we can do that. We need to stay healthy. We need to stay focused. We need to get better every day. And I think we’ll be better than 8-8."
NFC East Top 20: No. 10 Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys - Dan Graziano, ESPN
With four Cowboys ranking between 10 and 20, something tells me I'm not going to like Graziano's choices for the top five spots.
Tuesday Garrett Presser: Trimming The Roster, Making Evaluations - Rowan Kavner, DallasCowboys.com
For those disinclined to watch the video of Garrett's press conference, Kavner provides a neat summary that includes this take on Miles Austin:
"Garrett said Miles Austin’s looked great in practice, and it’s just as valuable that he got to rest occasionally as well. He reiterated that sometimes trainers and coaches need to protect the hardworking Austin from himself, and the receiver’s responded well and understands his body better now. His mindset is still that he’s a free agent from Monmouth, according to Garrett."
Jerry Jones believes special teams problems will be solved once roster is trimmed - Tom Orsborn, Mysanantonio.com
Jones is not worried about special teams:
"The thing you have to remember is that the other night we had maybe as many as 35 players that won’t be on the team in two weeks," Jones told KRLD-FM on Tuesday. "And one of the places you see them involved the most is on special teams…You get better execution when you start to put the players out there that have made the 53."
But so do all the other teams as well...
Jones: Parnell packs a powerful ‘punch’ - Tom Orsborn, Mysanantonio.com
Jerry Jones said yesterday that Jermey Parnell has the strongest "punch" the club’s strength and conditioning staff has ever measured. But Jones also conceded that Parnell hasn't picked up where he left off last year, and still needs to knock off some rust.
Scout's Notebook: 5 Best Linemen; Webb Improving - Bryan Broaddus, DallasCowboys.com
Broaddus, to nobody's surprise, likes Tyron Smith, Ronald Leary, Travis Frederick, Mackenzy Bernadeau, and Doug Free as the starting O-line.
DeMarcus Ware of Dallas Cowboys can't wear eight-bar face mask - ESPN Dallas
Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware will not be allowed to wear an eight-bar face mask this season.
Ron Leary: It feels good to hear Jerry Jones’ praise, ‘but it’s just a bunch of ifs’ - Jon Machota, DMN
Jones recently said Leary is one of the team's top five linemen, but Leary isn't letting that get to his head.
"That feels good coming from Jerry Jones, the head man, but it’s just a bunch of ifs," Leary said. "I got to get out there."
"I think we’ll be alright because in the off-season, me, [Travis Frederick] and [Tyron Smith] worked a lot in OTAs and mini-camp, so we know each other pretty well," Leary said. "You want to be out there as much as you can, but I think we got a good feel for each other."

The Cowboys injury report has been a revolving door through training camp and the preseason. Dave checks in on where they are today.
