With the deadline for the first round of roster cuts approaching, the Cincinnati Bengals announced that they've released linebacker Aaron Maybin and waived rookie wide receiver Tyrone Goard and cornerback Troy Stoudermire.
The Bengals signed Maybin, who only participated in seven defensive snaps this preseason, as a free agent on Jan. 25, 2013.
Goard and Stoudermire were college free agent signings following the 2013 NFL draft. Stoudermire didn't play against the Atlanta Falcons (despite being healthy) and took part in only eight defensive snaps against the Titans Saturday night. Goard, who missed a lot of time with a concussion, played four snaps on offense against the Titans after being inactive against the Falcons last week.
The roster is reduced to 87 players as Cincinnati prepares for the first round of cuts. Per league rules, all organizations must reduce their maximum roster from 90 to 75 players by 4:00 p.m. (ET) on Aug. 27. Four days later is final cuts.
