Quarterback Peyton Manning is having the best year of his career, both in real life and in fantasy terms. Though many would've guessed he would have slowed down in his late 30s, the former Super Bowl MVP has thrown for 16 touchdowns and no interceptions this year. He's playing with a level of accuracy and confidence that few great quarterbacks have ever rivaled before. It seems the Broncos are capable of putting up as many points as they want and it's benefiting the teams receiving corps.
Wide receiver Wes Welker has a touchdown in every single game he's played as a member of the Broncos and has two multi-touchdown games this year. There was some concern that he might not be used to running routes the way Manning demands of his receivers after spending most of his career working with Tom Brady. It's safe to say those concerns have been put to rest, as the Broncos look like a well-oiled machine. Fellow receivers Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas have only benefited from Welker's presence in the lineup.
The Cowboys defense found themselves at the mercy of Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers last week and were forced to play from behind for most of the game. Quarterback Tony Romo tried his best to match Rivers' epic 400-plus-yard passing performance and tossed 27 completions for two touchdowns and 244 passing yards in a losing effort. There is no doubt Romo will rely on his favorite receiver, Dez Bryant, to get his team into the end zone, especially in light of the absence of Miles Austin. Austin has been struggling since the start of the season, mostly due to nagging injuries.
Although running back DeMarco Murray has played solidly for the Cowboys this season, he may be at the mercy of the Broncos offense, who seem to render opponents' running games obsolete because they're able to score so many points and force opponents to throw the ball. If Murray does get the ball and is able to get the amount of touches he normally gets, he will face a Broncos run defense that has given up the third-most fantasy points to running backs this season.
