Your Week 6 College Football TV Schedule -------->CLICK HERE!!!!!
We're into the meat of the college football season now and things are starting to get real. For some (Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, etc.), things are starting to get good. For others (Texas, USC, Georgia Tech), things are starting to get bad... real bad. And for the petulant, obnoxious little boy pictured above, things are starting to get lonely (at least until he cons his way into another coaching gig).
As the delicious cream-filled center of the college football season begins, we have a pretty solid slate of games. You can see as much on the beautifully rendered TV Schedule I've provided for your downloading pleasure. That said, some games are still better than others, so I'm gonna take a minute or five to tell you what I think you ought to be watching this weekend.
The weekend begins with a whimper as we're treated to a showdown between the mighty Texas Longhorns and the Iowa St. Cyclones. After you've had a chance to watch put another nail in his proverbial coffin, it would probably be best to switch over to Fox Sports 1 and catch the UCLA Bruins taking on the Utah Utes in what could amount to a pretty interesting conference match-up.
Unfortunately, Friday evening doesn't have much to recommend as the BYU Cougars play the Utah St. Aggies and the Nevada Wolfpack visit the San Diego St. Aztecs. You should probably go on a date or something... unless you live on North Avenue and that's not really an option. If that's the case, you should probably go LARPing or something.
If you are really really into Big Ten football, you can hit up the Michigan St. Spartans at the Iowa Hawkeyes or the Illinois Fighting Illini at the Nebraska Cornhuskers (excellent opportunity for another Pellini meltdown). For everyone else, I'd recommend watching the Maryland Terrapins face off against the Florida St. Seminoles. Once this one is over, we'll sort of know whether or not FSU is for real (and, yes, that is a really weird thing to be able to say about a game against Maryland). I can't really suggest watching the Georgia St. Panthers sacrifice themselves to the Almighty Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide... unless you're already one the Dark Lord's acolytes... in which case, ENJOY!!!
The afternoon schedule offers a bevy of Top 25 action including a centuries old rivalry between the Clemson Tigers and the Syracuse Orange(men) that only the ACC could bring us. I know you probably want to watch the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Michigan Wolverines and you know I want to watch the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers. But should those games turn out to be stinkers, I think one of the most intriguing games of the day just might be the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets visiting the Miami Hurricanes. Is Miami overrated after beating what I believe to be a highly overrated Florida Gators squad? Can Paul Johnson pull his head out of his own butt long enough to competently call a game? When Tech pisses this one away (and they will), make yourself a bowl of popcorn and head over to StingTalk for some of the tastiest schadenfreude on the planet.
Saturday nights are turning into a regular SEC love-fest. I mean, I suppose if you had nothing better to do you could tune into the Arizona St. Sun Devils continuing to expose the fraudulent Notre Dame Fighting Irish... But you do have something better to do. Four something betters:
And that's it for this week. Please feel free to join us in the comments to tell us what games are striking your fancy and to pontificate on a question or two: Will the Dawgs beat the Vols? Will the Wildcats expose the Buckeyes? How badly will Miami beat the Yellow Jackets? And will Lane Kiffin be able to get a job as an exotic dancer at "La Bare" by telling the owner that his dad is Monte Kiffin?
Until next time...
