Andy Katz has a nice article up on what major NCAA changes might mean to the NCAA tournament. Basically, no one wants to screw up a good thing, and as new Big East commissioner Val Ackerman points out, other than Syracuse and BC, none of the Big Five conferences are represented in the Northeast, where the population is dense and basketball is arguably more loved than football (well college anyway).
And speaking of the tournament, the First Four may not be in Dayton much longer: though the city is good at hosting the event, getting “sent to Dayton” is like being the Wild Card team in NFL or ML playoffs. Yes, you’re in, but what now? Odds are you’re not going much further than Dayton.
